National Aerospace N.E.Zhukovskiy University "Kharkov Aviation Institute", called Kharkov Aviation Institute until 1997, is one of the leading educational institutions of Ukraine training specialists in the area of aeronautics and space engineering.
The University has distinguished teaching staff consisting of senior designers and major aviation and space company managers such as Y.E. Aisenberg, Pyotr Vasilyevich Balabuyev, V.A. Boguslayev, I.V. Dranovsky, S.N. Konukhov, F.M. Muravchenko and A.K. Myalitsa, as well as 1 USSR Lenin Prize winner, 3 USSR State Prize winners, 25 Ukrainian State Prize winners and 11 USSR Council of Ministers Prize winners.
The University’s campus occupies an area of around 25 hectares in the park zone of the city. The campus comprises 8 university buildings, 2 scientific research institutes, scientific laboratories, a library with 920,000 books in stock, students’ residence halls, a sports centre, a health club and several canteens.
The University participates in the “Alpha” International Space Program as well as in a number of scientific projects with US, Japanese, German, Mexican, Dutch and Chinese companies.
